Project 11: Seaside Guest House

The form of the territory

The main purpose of this project is to design the Seaside Guest House. And the Seaside Guest House will revitalize the local communities and support the self-sustaining activities in Killough, as a sequel to the previous project “Seaside Brewery”. The stone wall around the site is conserved because the site is part of conservation area in Killough.

Design Process

There were several visits to site in Killough for observation of stone wall, nature, birds, rural landscape, surrounding buildings, roads and trees. After the visits, research about the history and context of site in Killough had been made. Policies about conservation area in Killough had been also researched to create the design of Seaside Guest House that keeps the context of stone wall and buildings in Killough.

Atmosphere & Activities

The Seaside Guest House consists of bedrooms, lobby, mezzanine, restaurant, roof garden, and outdoor garden. Those who visit the Seaside Guest House can stay in to rest while watching the landscape of the Killough’s seaside, walk around the coastline of Killough and visit the Seaside Brewery to experience the brewing process inside the facility and get drinks and meals at pub. Further, visitors can get the special discount for the pub.
