Project05: Dwelling+
Utopia/Dystopia

Due to the Paris Agreement in 2022, there is a movement to reduce the emission of CO₂ by 65%. Moreover, people started to form agrarian communities, which established themselves around the UK. As such, a Self-sustainable city consists of building with zero CO₂ emission, zero energy consumption, and convenient agrarian facility to reduce hunger to zero. Thus, this dwelling plus is the start at Tredeston, Glasgow.

Site Visit

On the first day of a study trip to Glasgow, SL found that Glasgow street combines traditional (mostly consisting of stone and bricks) and modern (consisting of glass and metal) buildings, so it looks like the past and future co-exist around the street. On the second day, SL went into the site away from the street on the first day. The site was so deserted that it looked like it had been a long time since anyone had used it. While SL analysed the sources collected throughout the study trip, SL wanted to revive the site and chose the Utopia scenario from the mandatory design scenario of Utopia and/or Dystopia.

PS, Art is a very subjective area, but there should be a reason why. There could always be misleading in some design projects. However, the result could have a path formed by many discussions, decisions and reiterations.
