Project 04: Prospect/Refuge

SL designed a sailing house located at the beach of Tynemouth. SL used Soma cube to create the mass of the building with the context of site topography and placed the facilities in the mass of the building. In this design project, SL tried to realise the concept of prospect/refuge, which could be implemented using any architectural form and materials. For instance, the glass windows of the sailing house express the prospect of the building and also give the refuge. The glass of the window lets people see the landscape and protects them from many weather hazards, like rain, making them feel they are being protected.
